Our projects

BETSEGA wants to promote close contact and solidarity to the people, and support the efforts of many needy families in Ethiopa while you discover their country. For this reason, and for each person making a 15 days trip, BETSEGA will take the responsibility to finance the school costs for one orphanage child for 6 months!!! This is tourism and solidarity at once!

If you are interested, Axum can show you many local NGOs working in different areas - all needing support! These projects are handicrafts-creating cooperatives, for example beautiful potery in Kechene or in Gefersa, jewels, colourful scarves in Shiromeda, baskets etc. , which aim it is to create jobs for destitute women in particular (a good way to bring small presents to your family and friends AND help at the same time!).

We also support larger projects such as orphanages or hospitals providing help for many children in need. BETSEGA supports a very useful project run by Norvegians and aiming at caring for severely burnt children in two hospitals in Addis: the care is for free and we will ask the travellers to bring along a cream called Flamazine, which is a basic medicine here in Europe, but difficult to get in Ethiopia and really saving lives! An easy and cheap way to help these projects is to bring along with you some items they desperatly need (clothes, shoes, toys, school material, medicines, etc.). Remember you are allowed to carry 46 kg luggage each in the plane, which is surely more than what you need!!! And you can visit these projects to check by yourself what is done with your donations/gifts!!!
